Plumber. Problem solver. Endurance athlete.
Hey, I’m Stuart Bagnall, the guy behind the tools at JDC Plumbing.
Originally from England and now proudly calling Vancouver, BC home, I’m a plumber who genuinely enjoys what I do. Every day brings something different, from helping bring a renovation or new build vision to life, to tracking down a stubborn leak, replacing a tired fixture, clearing a blockage, or figuring out why something that should be working… absolutely isn’t.
For me, plumbing isn’t just about pipes and fittings. It’s about doing the job properly, taking pride in the details, and leaving something behind that I’m happy to put my name on.
From England to Vancouver
My Canadian adventure started back in 2008, when I first came to Canada on a work visa. A few years later, in 2011, I officially made Vancouver home and began my plumbing career.
I attended trade school at Pacific Vocational College (PVC) and was fortunate enough to work alongside some incredible journeymen who taught me far more than simply how to connect pipes.
They taught me the importance of craftsmanship, professionalism, standards and credibility.
Those lessons have stuck with me.
Plumbing is one of those trades where the work isn’t always going to be seen. Sometimes it gets covered by drywall. Sometimes it’s tucked away behind a wall or inside a mechanical room. But I’ve always believed that just because a customer can’t see it, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be done properly.
In fact, that’s when doing it right matters most.
I believe good plumbing is about more than just making things work. It’s about doing it right, doing it clean, and doing it professionally.
Whether the work is on display or hidden behind a wall, I take pride in the details, from neatly installed piping and clean mechanical rooms to perfectly aligned fixtures.
I also love the variety of plumbing. From renovations and new builds to hot water systems, boilers and everyday service calls, every job brings a different challenge.
I don’t just want to fix the problem, I want to understand why it happened and find the right solution.
When I’m not holding a wrench…
You’ll probably find me doing something equally ridiculous, but usually involving running shoes or a bicycle.
I’m a pretty active person and have spent a lot of time chasing some rather ambitious fitness goals. I’ve completed an Ironman, taken on a 130 km ultra trail race, raced multiple triathlons and managed to land on a few age-group podiums along the way.
I’ve also been involved in Vancouver’s cycling community, helped create BespokeCC, and taken on various roles within the local sporting community including getting behind a microphone as an MC at races.
I like setting myself a goal that initially sounds like a terrible idea, training for it, wondering halfway through why I agreed to it, and then somehow signing up for the next one.
When I’m not plumbing, running, cycling or pretending I have enough time to do all three, I love getting out and exploring.
You’ll usually find me spending time with my better half, checking out Vancouver’s restaurants, travelling, discovering new places.
Why JDC?
Ultimately, JDC Plumbing is about bringing together the things I’ve learned throughout my career:
Good workmanship. Professionalism. Attention to detail. Reliability. And taking pride in what you do.
Whether you’re planning a major renovation, building something new, or simply have a plumbing problem that needs sorting out, my goal is to make the process straightforward and leave you with work that you can rely on.
Because your home deserves more than “good enough.”
And if I’m going to put my name on it, I want it done right.
